Back in December, I told you that new changes were coming to my family and that means that the content at LipstickandKettlebells will be adapting too. Last year, my major focus was on becoming healthy through exercise and weightlifting with my amazing trainer. However, my relationship with food has taken a little longer to get on board. While I have started to view food as fuel for my workouts and daily life, I was not following any type of specific nutrition plan. To be honest, I figured that I have read enough on nutrition to be able to make some healthy changes for my family.
Yes, some of my healthy eating changes were helpful, I knew that I needed a nutrition program and accountabilty to help me manage my meal planning and food choices. I started to research and talk to people that were on thier own weightloss and health journies to decide what would be best for myself and my family.
The choice that I made was to start using Weight Watchers’ new program, FREESTYLE at the beginning of the year. So what will change about LipstickandKettlebells? Not much, I will still be sharing my thoughts on fitness, motherhood, and teaching, but I will also be sharing my weightloss journey from the viewpoint of a Weight Watchers Freestyle member. I will be posting more healthy recipes in the “Healthy Eats” section and I will include Weight Watchers Freestyle SmartPoints value for my recipes.
What is Weight Watchers Freestyle?
According to Weight Watchers website, Freestyle is a “program that is still based on our science-backed SmartPoints® system, which encourages you to eat more fruits, veggies, lean protein, and less sugar and unhealthy fats.
New to the program are 200+ zero Points® foods, that you don’t ever have to portion or track.
Spend your personalized SmartPoints Budget on any food you like. With new rollovers, you can transfer extra SmartPoints to another day, keeping the program flexible and livable. ”
**Curious as to what points and rollovers are? I will explain all the Weight Watchers terminology on my Weight Watchers Terms post.
Where I have been and where I am headed…
When I started working out last March, I topped the scales at 246 pounds. So my heaviest weight was 246.
When I first weighed in at a Weight Watchers meeting on December 27, 2017, I weighed in at 221.6. This is what I will call my starting weight.
When I weighed in last Sunday, March 11, 2018, I weighed in at 198.4. ONDERLAND BABY!!! For those of you unfamilar with that term, Onderland is when you finally weight in the 100’s again…..and for me that has been at least 7 years in the making. Now I wonder why it took me so long.
Feel free to join me…
I don’t work for Weight Watchers and they aren’t giving my any incentives to write about their program. I am just sharing my journey with you. Weight Watchers offers the program in an online only format and a meetings format. For me, I chose the meetings for the accountablity. Sundays are my “weigh in” days and most weeks it feels like Christmas, excited to see where my hard work has gotten me.
Of course please continue to follow me here at the blog page, but Weight Watchers also has a social media app called “Connect”. Feel free to follow me there under the username “learn-a-little“.
